SESTWA

A fraternity of teachers, united by compassion.

SESTWA is a brotherhood and sisterhood of educators in Suna East, committed to supporting one another through every season of life.

Teachers of Suna East together

What guides every decision.

Mission

To provide timely, dignified and transparent financial welfare support to teachers of Suna East Sub-County during bereavement, medical emergencies and other approved hardships, funded entirely by member contributions.

Vision

A Suna East teaching fraternity where no educator faces grief or hardship alone, and every member is assured of swift, adequate support backed by a trusted, accountable system.

Values

Solidarity: we stand together in every season. Transparency: every shilling is accounted for. Dignity: support is given with respect and speed. Inclusivity: every active member is equal.

Born out of a teacher's grief.

SESTWA began when teachers in Suna East saw colleagues who suffered bereavement left to carry funeral costs alone, costs that could wipe out months of salary.

What started as an informal group of a few dozen teachers has grown into a registered association covering educators across every school in the sub-county, led by an elected executive committee and governed by a constitution.

Today SESTWA covers the bereavement of members, their spouses, children and parents, and extends to other welfare situations announced by the Secretary.

“Standing together means no teacher in Suna East faces hardship alone.”
